Experience / Qualifications

João G. Pereira is a psychologist with a Doctorate in Psychotherapy and a registered psychotherapist in the United Kingdom (UKCP and BPC), where he lived and worked for 10 years, mostly in NHS psychiatry, addictions and personality disorders departments, where he helped implement an MBT (Mentalization Based Treatment) service.

Inspired by his visits to Finnish Lapland, Northern Norway, and New York, he created the first Open Dialogue project in Portugal. He was Clinical Director of Romão de Sousa Foundation and Casa de Alba from its inception and for 12 years.

João G. Pereira is a trainer, consultant, and supervisor in several international relational and dialogical practice groups. He has collaborated with the University of East London, University of Évora, Nova University of Lisbon, and, more recently, the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.

He is currently Senior Lecturer in a doctoral program in London (Metanoia Institute and Middlesex University).
